The Never Ending Blanket

About 10 years ago I started this cross stitched, Precious Moments Alphabet baby blanket for a friend that was having a baby. Why I did this, I have no idea...because I do not cross stitch very fast. Needless to say, I didn't finish it. I did get to the "M" but that was about it. I began to make it for a friend's baby -- didn't finish. When another friend got pregnant, I picked it up again and tried to get it done for her baby -- didn't finish. And when a third friend got pregnant and I didn't finish it, I resigned myself to the fact that it would never be done.

When I got pregnant with Eva, I asked my mom (the most talented crafter that I know) if she would be willing to complete it. I knew that the likelihood of me finishing it before Eva's 15th birthday was very slim! Thankfully she agreed. However, in between the crocheted sweaters and blankets and the cute dresses she has made for Eva, not to mention taking care of Eva everyday, it has taken several months for her to finish the blanket.

Imagine the excitement when, on St. Patrick's Day, my mom gave us a gift bag with the blanket all wrapped up. We opened it and were soooo happy! Eva has her blankie!!! And then.....we looked at the birthdate!!! Much to our dismay, she had cross-stitched July 21st, not July 31st!! Oops...she was thinking about my birthday which is the 21st of August! Poor Gramma...she had to take the whole thing apart to change the date!!!

But it is done!!! The never-ending blanket is finally done! My apologies to all of my friends that never got the blanket. My immense thank you to my mother, who is so talented and finished the blanket with so much love. Eva will cherish it forever!

8 is Great!!!!

Eva is 8 months old...rather than tell everyone just how much I can't believe she is growing up soooo fast, I figured I would just update you with what she is up to.

Eva has 3 teeth, is army crawling and wants to stand alllll of the time. She will sit and play with her toys for a maximum of 10 minutes, and then she wants to pull herself up and stand. We are really beginning to think that she is going to skip crawling all together and go straight to walking!!

Eva's Likes:

Standing

Going for walks

Motley and Peanut (especially chasing Motley when he has a toy)

EATING!

Banana cookies

Reading and books

Having her teeth brushed

Eva also likes:
Giving kisses (open mouth and drooley!!!)
Taking baths
Giving high fives
Playing sweet baby (you say "Ahhh sweet baby" and she puts her head down on you).

Eva is not a fan of:
Getting out of the bath and getting ready for bed
Having her faced wiped after eating
Letting you see her teeth
(hey-that list isn't so bad!)

Now I will say it...she is getting soooo big, soooo fast, but she is soooo much fun now! She is interacting with us and learning things very quickly. Not to brag (well, maybe a little) but we have a very smart little girl on our hands!!! I can only look forward to the future days with her as I love and cherish every moment I have with her!

It is warming up...

...and we have been able to go out and about for some walks.

Last weekend I decide to brave it by myself -- meaning, I took a walk with Eva and the pugs...no small feat!!

We walked to the park that is about a block away from us, around the park, over the bridge and along the river to the house where the residents feed the ducks. These people have a farm feeder for chickens in their backyard that borders the river. Eva and Mot liked watching the ducks! And then we wound around the neighborhood back home. It was a great hour in the sun with my 3 kids!!
Mot is so photogenic!

Peanut gets tired pretty easily...good thing she can catch a ride!

Eva was having a great time!!! All smiles!

It was a long walk...so long that Mot needed to catch a ride too!

Gramma has been taking Eva on daily walks too...here is one of her pics!

My 2 Front Teeth

I would like to post a blog here about my daughter's shiny, new additions...aka, her 1st, 2nd and 3rd teeth.

However, the stubborn little thing refuses to show them to anyone! We get a glimpse every once in awhile when she is chewing on her spoon and I feel them when she bites down on my finger, but that it is about it.

So until she is willing to give up the goods...don't expect any pictures of the pearly whites!!!!

Happy Belated Birthday to...

...my Brother in Law Brian!!!

Sorry I am late with the post! We hope you had a great day! Can't wait to see you in May!!
